Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Release date: Single Player Campaign Was Very Important To Treyarch

The grueling death match multiplayer modes of Call of Duty have always been the place for fans to gather for some nonstop warfare, but the single-player campaign is where the trials and tribulations of war are better expressed.

According a recent article in GameZone, Treyarch said that Black Ops 2 would continue to deliver "emotional depth" as past installments and that the campaign mode was very important to the developer.

"The story surrounding the single player campaign was of paramount importance to the developers at Treyarch." Jack Wall, the game's composer said. "I wanted to do my part to give as much emotional depth as I could with the music," he added. "I think fans will really appreciate how deep the story is in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2."

Black Ops II features a branching story lines driven by player choice and takes place through out the 70s and into the 80s. But the game will also jump into the future to the year 2025. The protagonist of the original Black Ops, Alex Mason will return for the as the Cold War section.

In the 2025 section of the Game Alex Mason's son David will be the protagonist during a future Cold War conflict between China and the United States.

"There's this shift to a new time period. There's an abundance of new weapons and gameplay,"John Rafacz, director of communications,said in an interview with the Examiner. "Within the game there's the ability to tell a story like never before. You get to understand where the characters have come from, which gives you a better sense of where things are during 2025."

The game has recently leaked ahead of its Nov.13 release date and those users have posted campaign footage that featured horseback riding gameplay in what is potential a mission from the 1980s storyline based on a mission in Afghanistan.

Activision also announced recently that Call of Duty Elite will be free this time around and will offer gamers a way to track their multiplayer stats. Downloadable content will be available through the game's season pass or as individual DLC packs.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II developed by Treyarch will release on Nov. 13, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows and on Nov. 18 for the upcoming Wii U.
