EA and DICE have released a new trailer for their Battlefield 3 DLC, Aftermath, showing the newest weapon to Battlefield 3's arsenal, the crossbow.
Illustrating the ingenuity required to survive on the post-earthquake streets of Tehran, Iran, the crossbow is actually made from salvaged parts of other weapons, but looks like it works as well as any weapon off the assembly line. A true representation of the adage, "silent but deadly" the crossbow will let you take down enemies from across the map with no one being the wiser.
And if you're going up against some heavier artillery where the traditional bolts just won't cut it, don't fret. Players will have the option of loading up to four different kinds of crossbow bolts: standard barbed, high explosive, scan bolt, and for those long shots, the aerodynamic balanced bolt.
Beyond the crossbow, EA also promises Aftermath will include...
- Four new maps including Epicenter and Markaz Market
- Three new vehicles modified to showcase ingenuity and firepower
- New assignments, achievements and dog tags
- New Scavenger game mode, an objective based Conquest mode where lost soldiers armed only with a pistol must search the environment to find more powerful weapons and increasing their chance for survival
PS3 gamers with a Battlefield 3 Premium membership get their Aftermath access Nov. 27, and Xbox 360 and PC Premium members will receive it on Dec. 4. The PS3 non-Premium launch will occur on Dec. 11th, followed by the Xbox 360/PC non-Premium launch on the 18th, later that month.
