Battlefield 4 Rumors: Dates, Engine, Female Characters

New details have emerged for the next iteration of Battlefield 3 - Battlefield 4. Chinese website, Chip Hell, has provided new details on the upcoming first-person shooter game.

The website claimed that the details  have come in from Chinese EA employees who participated in an internal conference of Battlefield 4.

The site reported that conference-goers were shown the alpha version of Battlefield 4. The game has a Frostbite 2 engine.

A tentative release date for Battlefield 4 was announced as Oct. 23, 2013.

Battlefield 4's current generation will be at 30fps, while the next-generation version will run at 60fps. The current version might support 32 players in a multiplayer mode whereas the next-generation version will support 64 players. Frames per second (fps) cap of 100 might be introduced in the PC version. The game will support tessellation and dynamic lighting.

The multiplayer will have a commander's role-play with new tools and abilities. Voice commands usage in the game has also been confirmed. It will have an improved battle log and game statistics integration. The setting of the game is in a modern day scenario. It will have video sharing ability, and cloud storage for stats will also be featured.

Battlefield 4 will support female characters for the first time. U.S., Russia and China will be the three playable factions.

Dsogaming reported that employees who attended the conference were shown an early demo of the game.

It will be released to PC, Xbox PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox 720 next year.
