Bioware announced in September the Mass Effect Trilogy Compilation; a box set that will include Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 and additional previously released downloadable content.
It was announced that the Xbox 360 and PC version will release on Nov. 6 for $59.99 and now we know that the PlayStation 3 version will release nearly a month later on Dec. 4 in the US and Dec. 7 in Europe, according to a post Bioware's blog.

"We began work on Mass Effect Trilogy in earnest last April, shortly after Mass Effect 3 had shipped," wrote Ryan Warden, the external producer for Mass Effect Trilogy. "The trilogy was complete, but there was a slight complication - there are people who had missed out on one (or more) titles in the series. From day one, we had announced that Mass Effect would be part of a trilogy. Jumping into the series at a midpoint could be intimidating. One thing you should know about our development team is that we're all very passionate about the trilogy, the entire Mass Effect universe. So we started looking at ways to take away any intimidation or barriers players new to the franchise might feel, while also providing an amazing overall experience at a great price for the holidays. So the Mass Effect Trilogy was born."
The game will span five DVDs on Xbox 360 and PC, but the Blu-Ray PlayStation 3 version will likely come with fewer discs, but no details have officially been announced. This will be the first time PlayStation gamer will get to play the original game on the PlayStation 3.
The original Mass Effect will also be available as a standalone title that can be downloaded via the PlayStation Network for $14.99, though Bioware has not announced an exact date for the game.
Mass Effect is set in the year 2183, 35 years after, humankind discovered a cache of technology on Mars, supposedly built by a technologically advanced race called the Protheans.
Humanity manages to use the tech to explore beyond the solar system and established numerous colonies. Eventually humanity encounters various extraterrestrial species and become one of the many independent bodies that make up the collective Citadel community.
Player controls Commander Shepard, a veteran soldier, who can be customized by the player. In the original game Shepard is under command of Captain David Anderson, before taking control of the Normandy and its crew.
