Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Claimed To Be In Development

The voice actor who has played the video game character of Captain Price in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games recently told the website This is Xbox that he will be reprising his role in yet to be announced Modern Warfare 4.

"Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4." Murray told the site. "I'm doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games."

GameSpot reported that Infinity Ward has updated its official Twitter feed with a denial of the news story.

"Interesting news today, but it's not true," said Infinity Ward reps. "We've not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation."

Earlier this summer there was a rumored leak from an unidentified employee of Neversoft that said the new game in the series would feature high altitude-low opening (HALO) jumps and military drone surveillance. The details were posted on the Se7enSins website, but these rumors had to be taking with a grain of salt as Neversoft has traditionally not produce first-person-shooters.

The Modern Warfare games have traditionally been developed by Infinity Ward with the last release being last year's critically acclaimed Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The latest DLC for the game was released on Sept. 5 for Xbox 360 and Oct. 9 for the PlayStation 3. The DLC feature the maps Parish and Gulch & Boardwalk.

Activision is currently preparing for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which is set to release on Nov. 13, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows PC. The Wii U version will follow as a launch title for Nintendo's new console on Nov. 18. Black Ops II is developed by Treyarch and is a sequel to the 2010 game Call of Duty: Black Ops.
