Activision finally showed everyone the much-talked about ‘Zombies in Spaceland’ for “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare”. All this was made official at Gamescom 2016.
“Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” will feature four aspiring actors who are mysteriously invited by “Willard Wyler” (voiced by Paul Reubens) to audition at his theater. Little that they know that it would be something more than that.
They get zapped and eventually transformed into the film. They take the form of four 80s archetypes, namely a jock, nerd, valley girl and rapper. From there, “Zombies in Spaceland” takes over with the obvious goal of surviving the zombie attacks.
Celebrities pitch in
Earlier it was mentioned that Paul Reubens’ voice was used to portray “Willard Wyler”. Apparently, he is not only one with other celebrity voices cast.
Other actors who helped out include Seth Green, Ike Barinholtz, Sasheer Zamata and Jay Pharaoh. Actor David Hasselhoff has also pitched in, playing the enigmatic DJ at the theme park pegged to help the four characters survive the droves of zombies.
The new zombie mode tries to douse criticism over the alleged lack of invention between main campaigns. The latest one is seen as the most unusual to date for “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” though many are likely to wonder what is the real score behind the retro 80s setup.
More to come?
It will be interesting if these revelations at Gamescom 2016 will be enough to spur pre-orders. If not, there are perks that could further convince gamers.
Players who pre-order can expect to get a “Zombies in Spaceland” pack that includes items like the zombie weapon camo, zombie reticule and an animated zombie calling card. Aside from those, there is the ‘Fate & Fortune’ card park and the bonus ‘Terminal’ multiplayer map.
“Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” is slated for release on Nov. 4, 2016, for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
