Team Fortress 2 Gears Up For Halloween With 'Scream Fortress' Event

Team Fortress 2, a free-to-play shooter game, gives gamers "Scream Fortress", a Halloween-based event that starts Oct. 26.

This Halloween, Valve adds exciting new features like battles against undead enemies, magic spells and a King of the Hill battle against the evil wizard Merasmus.

The official website of Team Fortress 2 says this event is its "fourth annual spectral Halloween special." The blog reveals details about a haunted map that can cast mysterious spells on players that are evil and good.

"The two-week-long event will also let players cast magic spells on their own equipment, granting them new effects: 'shifting paint colors, ghost summoning, flaming footsteps and more,'" Polygon reported.

"Finally, you can live Glenn Danzig's dream of being an evil sorcerer! One of the spells might even give you Glenn Danzig's eldritch phone number, so you can call him up and really rub it in," the blog said.

"Merasmus has also booby-trapped the control point-every time it changes hands, the Wheel of Fate spins, and one of many potentially horrible fates ."

Players will be able to battle the zombies on a new map, Wave 666. The undead versions of Heavy, Sniper, Pyro, and Scout will battle in the Mann vs. Machine mode that will have more than 800 zombies.

Two new achievements, "Wizards Never Prosper", where players have to kill Merasmus, and "A Lovely Vacation Spot", where players have to go to Skull Island to claim a reward, will be made available.

The event will end Nov. 8.

The game has been developed by Valve. It was released 2007, and was turned into a free-to-play game in 2011. The game has won critical acclaim, with a scoring of 92 out of 100 from Metacritic.
