Halo 4 Release Date: Microsoft Reveals DLC, Season Pass And Map Details (See Pics Here)

Microsoft has outlined the downloadable content plans for its upcoming first-person shooter video game, Halo 4 for the Xbox 360 console, according to Game Informer. The War Games Map Pass will give gamers a 15 percent discount from the combined purchase price of buying the maps individually.

The pass will cost 2,000 Microsoft points or $24.99 and will give gamers access to three War Games map packs when the expansions become available. Gamers will also receive two in-game helmets called Scanner and Strider, as well as a exclusive in-game emblem called Falcon.

For gamer who purchase the Halo 4: Limited Edition for $99.99, the season pass will be free. The Limited Edition also comes with bonus in-fiction bonus content that expands the characters and stories of "Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn" and their connections to Halo 4.

Crimson Map Pack (December release timeframe)

Maps: Wreckage, Harvest, Shatter

Description: Witness the chaos of a clash of civilizations in Wreckage, with its blend of claustrophobic spaces and dangerous exposures and venture into the human colony environs of Harvest, and explore a human foray on an alien moon in Shatter.

Majestic Map Pack (February release timeframe)

Maps: Landfall, Monolith, Skyline

Description: Landfall's emphasis is on infantry battles against a glittering ocean on a distant world, while Monolith exposes you to the naked vacuum of space - and the firepower of opposing teams, and Skyline's distinctly industrial feel provides new challenges in somewhat familiar, but occasionally confined spaces.

Castle Map Pack (April release timeframe)

Maps: Daybreak, Outcast, Perdition

Description: Daybreak is set in a military facility against the backdrop of an idyllic mountain range, while Outcast plunges you into the warrens, canyons and arches of an alien edifice, and Perdition takes players into the heart of an urban sprawl, with tactical speed and situational awareness its key features.

Halo 4 is intended to be the first of a new trilogy of Halo series games, named the "Reclaimer Trilogy," and the first to be developed by 343 Industries. Master Chief will return as the main protagonist, and the AI Cortana returns as well. The game will release worldwide on Nov. 6 with the exclusion of Japan where the game will be released on Nov. 8.
