Brandon Marshall caught 15 passes and two touchdown for a 165 yards, including a the game winning 38-yard score in the fourth quarter to help the Chicago Bears defeat the Detroit Lions 31-27 on ESPN's "Monday Night Football."
Matt Forte had a 21-yard touchdown run and 106 yards for the Bears. Jay Cutler completed 22 of 35 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns for Chicago. But he also fumbled and threw an interception late in the second half of the game that kept the Lions in the game.
Matthew Stafford took the opportunities provided by the turnovers scoring two touchdowns and rallying Detroit back to within one point in the fourth-quarter cutting the Bears' lead to 28-27 with just under three minutes remaining.
Stafford's favorite target, Calvin Johnson was held in check for the game's first three quarters and only had one catch for 9-yards going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Johnson caught fire and made five catches for 89 yards including two touchdown receptions.
Stafford threw for 311 yards and two three touchdowns, but also had two early interceptions. He also botched a handoff early in the game on a third-and-one that was recovered by the Lions but forced Detroit to kick a field goal rather than pickup the first down.
After Detroit scored their second touchdown of the fourth quarter, Cutler directed a time consuming drive to set up a 43-yard field goal by Robbie Gould with 52 seconds left. The field goal put the Bears up 31-27, but left Stafford with a chance to lead the Lions into field goal range.
Detroit moved the ball 40 yards in five plays setting up Jason Hanson for a field goal try, but the kick sailed wide right as time expired.
