‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News, Release Date & Update: Judge Puts Up Stern Warning In Courtroom

“Pokemon Go” has captivated a lot of attention with most practically hunting down the critters anywhere. In the Philippines, the craze has gone as far as the court room, a place that requires attention and seriousness.

In Cebu City, Judge Yvonne Cabaron Artiaga banned anyone caught playing “Pokemon Go” in her courtroom. She apparently noticed someone playing the game and was ultimately distracted. Being a room where critical decisions are made, she issued an order to set things straight.

After catching a glimpse of some attendees at the courtroom, Judge Artiaga wrote a note and had it posted at the doors. The sign read (per GMA Network) : “Under pain of contempt, Pokemon catching inside the court is strictly prohibited. Justice may be blind but it can see Pokemon catchers. Violators will face fine and imprisonment.”

No Pokemon at her chambers too

After laying down that rule, Judge Artiaga went as far as to create another sign just outside her office door. It read: “There is no Pokemon in my chamber. I will use the full extent [of] my contempt power for any Pokemon-related disturbance. Knock at your own risk.”

Funny as some may find Judge Artiaga’s moves, such is proof that people need to understand when and where to play the game. Light-hearted as her manner of issuing warnings were, there are corresponding penalties that are no laughing matter. That included being fined approximately $42 and being imprisoned not more than 10 days under the rules of the court.

Know when and where to play

The move is one of many global reprots tied up to the “Pokemon Go” phenomenon. While it is understandable that many are too preoccupied hunting them down, there is a time to play and a time to realize that you are in reality. So heed the warnings!
