Apple has just released the fifth beta version of their newest operating system for the Mac, the macOS Sierra. This new operating system came a week after the fourth beta was released and around two months since the software was first revealed at Apple's 2016 Worldwide Developer's Conference. It is now available for developers and members of Apple's beta testing program alike.
The beta update can be downloaded by developers through Software Update in the App Store or through the Apple Development Center, writes Geeky Gadgets. The latest macOS boasts a wide array of new features to the iMac as well as to the MacBook and MacBook Air notebooks. Siri, Apple's trusted voice control assistant, will be available on the Mac for the first time ever.
This would allow users to make voice searches to find files, look for information over the web, set alarms, send messages, and a lot more. There is also a Continuity feature which gives an Auto Unlock function for unlocking a Mac using an Apple Watch and a Universal Clipboard for copying text on one Apple device then pasting it on another, says a post in Mac Rumors.
iCloud integration has also been improved. Now, files stored on the desktop of the documents folder of a Mac or a notebook can be accessed on all of a user's devices. Photos has also been improved with deep learning algorithms for a more accurate reading for facial and object recognition. Messages has also been improved with links, bigger emoticons, and a Tapback response feature.
Another feature coming to macOS Sierra is Apple pay. This allows payments which are authenticated through another device and has convenient new features like multiple tabs, multitasking, optimized storage, and a better emoji.
Apple has not yet given the exact date for the release of the new macOS Sierra. As of now, all that is given is that it will debut sometime this fall. That could mean the next macOS will come next month or around October. Meanwhile, macOS Sierra public beta 4 has been seeded to public beta testers. This is identical to the fifth developer beta version.
