Fans who absolutely hated that controversial "The Good Wife" Season 7 finale have something to look forward to. No, there won't be a "The Good Wife" Season 8 but something just as good is in the works - a "The Good Wife" Spinoff.
It has been confirmed that the upcoming "The Good Wife" Spinoff will be set sometime after the events that transpired in "The Good Wife" Season 7 finale. As such, it is probably the closest thing to a "The Good Wife" Season 8 that long-time fans could be getting.
Now comes the part most fans must have been secretly wanted to happen but not daring to hope too much that it does. What could be the chances that the Jason and Alicia pair could be given another shot at romance in "The Good Wife" Spinoff?
Apparently, it's not only the show's fans that did not like the ending. Aside from the controversial slap that ended the show, a "The Good Wife" cast also voiced out that he did not like the ending as well, but for selfish reason as he puts it.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, "The Good Wife" actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan admits not liking the show's finale very much. According to Morgan, who played the role of Jason, he feels that there was no closure in Jason's relationship with Juliannna Margulies' Alicia.
When asked if Morgan thought his character Jason would come back to Alicia, Morgan thinks he would. In fact, when Alicia is trying to reach him, Morgan said "my feeling is that Jason would have picked up that phone and would have gone and scooped her up."
Unfortunately, reconnecting them for a "The Good Wife" Season 8 is no longer an option. And the best bet would be in the coming "The Good Wife" Spinoff.
Of course, the two actors are not confirmed to be on the upcoming "The Good Wife" Spinoff. Since the upcoming series was already announced to center on Diane Lockhart and Lucca Quinn, Alicia's return as a major character is out of the question either.
Which leaves the only option is for a possible guesting for an episode or two to address the closure of Alicia and Jason's relationship that fans are hoping for. After investing time and emotion for seven straight seasons, is that too much to ask?
Keep your fingers crossed. Stay tuned to Game & Guide for updates on the yet unnamed "The Good Wife" spinoff.
