'Pokemon Go' Cheats, Tips & Tricks: Can You Really Spawn Rare Pokemon With Incense?

Everyone playing "Pokemon Go" understands the struggle of finding rare Pokemon in an environment full of Rattatas and Pidgeys. Even uncommon Pokemon, such as the starters, are hard to find even when you're walking around, and the revamped tracking mechanic isn't really helping. So what's your best chance of completing your Pokedex and earning more candy for the rarer finds?

Reddit user Sionarra seems to have run into a bug or a hidden "Pokemon Go" feature in which using an incense in a place where the tracker doesn't spot any Pokemon will spawn rare ones. He claims that he went to a spot out of town and away from civilization, and got the tracker to register zero Pokemon nearby. Using the incense, he was able to catch, most notably, a Raichu, a Blastoise, and even a Dragonair.

Whenever he would approach anywhere resembling civilization and that "Pokemon Go" would start tracking actual Pokemon nearby, the incense spawns would be regular common Pokemon. Sionarra theorizes that in the absence of actual Pokemon being tracked, the game spawns Pokemon from a blank slate--and while it's not all super-rare Pokemon, they're much better finds than what you'd normally get.

The big challenge this discovery leaves us with, then, is that you'd have to find a spot out of town, or away from the city, which you can go to easily and still be able to play "Pokemon Go" in. It's usually hard to have your cake and eat it, but if you can manage to find a good, out of the way spot and test this theory there, it'll be a big boost to your collection. Sionarra reports that he'd been testing this theory for a while now, and it seems to be pretty consistent. Happy hunting!
