Devil May Cry Release Date: Ninja Theory Announces DmC Demo (Watch New Trailer Here)

The re-envisioned Devil May Cry: DmC from Ninja Theory is getting a pre-release demo to give gamers an opportunity to test out the new look Dante before the game's Jan. 15, 2013 release date.

The announcement about the upcoming demo was made during the New York Comic Con panel that featured the DmC's producer Alex Jones. Joystiq and several other media outlets reported the story.

Another announcement made by the panel was the confirmation of the villain Mundus as the game's fundamental antagonist. Mundus was the villain from the original Devil May Cry series. He is the king of demon world. He stands a few stories high and has a third eye and white-feathered wings. He is responsible for the death of Dante's mother and the corruption of his brother. The game's trailer shows this version of Mundus to be a rich human-looking demon.

In a recent interview Joystiq spoke with Alex Jones about the likelihood of Dante's brother Vergil as a playable character, but the game's producer offered an ambiguous response. He said that Vergil as a playable character "will not be on the disc. This leaves open the possibility of a Vergil infused DLC pack that will have the character playable.

The game is set in a parallel universe in the Devil May Cry series and tells the story of an alternate version of Dante coming to terms with his powers in the fictitious Limbo City.

The panel did not announce an exact release date for the DmC demo, but it can be assumed that it will release sometime this winter. The retail version of Devil May Cry: DmC will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 on Jan. 15, 2013 and for the PC at a later date. Watch the game's latest trailer below...
