World War I fans, don't look now--EA will finally be starting the "Battlefield 1" open beta phase soon, and if this single tweet from the developer is any indication, it looks like we'll be in for much more content in the game.
Clearly, an open beta would have much more new content than an alpha phase would, but EA has made efforts to make sure that there would be new things to do when "Battlefield 1" enters open beta sometime soon. This tweet from EA DICE's senior producer Aleksander Grøndal stating that the developers have been busy playing the open beta basically confirms it:
Expect this new stuff to be new modes, features, and maps in "Battlefield 1." EA has already announced back in E3 the four new maps they're prominently featuring in the game: Amiens in France, St. Quentin Scar in England, Monte Grappa in the Alps, and Empire's Edge in Italy. As for the confirmed modes, we already know that there will be a Conquest and Dominion modes, while a third mode called Operations is rumored to be included. Operations will play out like an actual battle in a war, with many different tasks players need to complete in order to win the game.
Other than the above tweet, EA DICE hasn't revealed any other new info about "Battlefield 1," but since the open beta is pretty close, it seems we'll find out soon, anyway. It's also possible that more info will be revealed at this year's Gamescom convention in Germany later this month. "Battlefield 1" is dropping for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 21 later this year.
