There have been some questionable games that have been turned into Hollywood movies like Dead or Alive, House of the Dead, and Alone in the Dark. Here is our list of games that should be turned into 'good' films.
5. Castlevania
It is time for Simon Belmont's quest to find and defeat Dracula would play out like a darker version of Universal Pictures' "Van Helsing," but with more vampires and less bad accents. While the Castlevania series was really popular in the late 80s and early 90s, the game still has a loyal community. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a recent reboot of the franchise, and features Gabriel Belmont battling the Lords of Shadow. The game's plot is set before the rise of Dracula. I do not think I would go the route of Lord of Shadows. I would rather focus on Dracula, who has always been one of the ultimate villains in cinema history. Perhaps focusing on Dracula's rise to power and explaining the rivalry between the vampire lord and the Belmonts.
4. Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge released for the original Xbox and was an action-oriented arcade flight game. The game is set in an alternate version of the 1930s in which planes and Zeppelin become the primary form of transportation. The game's main-protagonist is Nathan Zachary, the leader of the Fortune Hunters sky pirate gang. The US has split into numerous sovereignties that are constantly in a state of war. The Crimson Skies version of the 1930s, has technology that is far more advanced than in the actual 1930s. The technology includes remote-controlled rocket launchers, magnetic rockets, weather control devices, and a Tesla coil-like weapon. I see the movie as a mix of visual from "Red Tails" and the 1985 film "Brazil."
3. Deus Ex
Deus Ex is a cyberpunk-themed action-role playing video game that combined elements from first-person shooters, stealth and role-playing games. Deus Ex was developed by Ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive back in 2000. The game takes place in a dystopian future where many real world myths are real. In the game a lethal pandemic known as the "Gray Death" decimates the world's population. There is no cure for "Gray Death" but a synthetic vaccine, "Ambrosia", has been manufactured by the company VersaLife, but is in short supply. The game world deals with things like nano-technology. A film adaptation was announced in 2004, but never came to fruition. The newest game Deus Ex: Human Revolution has recently been picked up for a future film. I have one director in mind and that is Darren Aronofsky.
2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a RPG developed by BioWare that appeared on the original Xbox. Now this is the only game on the list that comes from established film franchise, but lets face it George Lucas needs some help. The story of this game takes place approximately 4,000 years before the films, two Ex-Jedi Darth Malak, Darth Revan have unleashed a Sith armada against the Republic. The Star Wars franchise could really be revived if they move away from the Skywalker saga. Some will say that the game was a rip-off of the originally trilogy, but who cares.
1. The Elder Scrolls
There is room in theaters for a new entry in the fantasy genre. "Game of Thrones" has an awesome HBO series, but the genre lacks a cinema presence besides Peter Jackson's adaptation of "The Lord of the Rings," novels. Bethesda open-world RPGs have captivated video gamers with titles such as Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. Since most of the games in the series are not necessarily direct sequels, I would go with the most recent game Skyrim. The main story revolves around the player character's efforts to defeat Alduin, a Dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. I would hand the film to director Guillerm Del Toro and allow him to create the film equivalent of a darker "Lord of The Rings."
