Now that there's a new character to play with, all Borderlands 2 needs is more areas to explore, which may well be on the way. Yesterdays update that added Gaige the Mechromancer also added new trophies / achievements, which seemed to have spilled the beans on future DLC.
Supposedly titled "Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty," the trophies for the possibly upcoming DLC in question are below. Thanks to JustPushStart for identifying them.
* Gadabout: Discover all named locations in Oasis and the surrounding Pirate's booty areas. (Bronze)
* Completionist: Complete all Pirate's booty side missions (Silver)
* Treasure Hunter: Complete the mission "X Marks the spot" (Gold)
Furthermore, looking within the PC files of Borderlands 2, more information points to similar pirate themed additions, including:
- A "Seraph Crystal Vendor" who "sells top level gear but only accepts Seraph Crystals in payment. Earn more Seraph Crystals by slaying Seraph Guardians."
- A new boss farming lockout of some sort, that will disallow players from killing certain bosses more than once a day.
- New raid bosses such as Hyperius and Master Gee the Invincible.
- New character heads on the Pirate theme
- A new vehicle currently only known as "Hovercraft".
- A new area named "Oasis".
And it wouldn't be Borderlands if guns weren't involved in one way or another. The DLC is also said to add a new rarity level to the game, Believed to be called, "Seraph."
This all does fit with with Gearbox President's Randy Pitchford teases at new DLC. At 2K's Borderlands 2's panel at the Gearbox Community Day, Pitchford told fans to think "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." When asked for clarification, he only said, "I've always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a sand skiff. I've always wanted to do that, and we've got some cool stuff that's along those lines."
