One of the biggest frustrations surrounding "Pokemon Go" right now, most players will agree, is the game's currently broken tracking feature. After Niantic Labs temporarily removed the feature as it was originally advertised for "Pokemon Go" and banned all support for third-party tracking apps, players have been scrambling to find a way to properly track Pokemon and catch the certain kinds they want.
Now, another third-party developer has created an app that would enable players to track Pokemon in "Pokemon Go" using their smartwatches, similar to how the wearable Pokemon Go Plus is supposed to work. Pokemon Go Plus has yet to be released to players, but it is a small pin that will vibrate whenever there is a Pokemon nearby; it just doesn't inform players what kind of Pokemon it is, or help them look for specific kinds.
The "Pokemon Go" thread on Reddit points to the Android smartwatch app called "Smart Pokemon Go," which basically shows where Pokemon are on the map, with pretty precise accuracy. It doesn't seem to be compatible with all wearable Android gear (especially the Samsung Gear S2) but it still works for most wearables. The map on the watch app is just more rudimentary than your typical Google Map, but it's still workable as long as you know how to read one.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a version for Apple Watches (understandably). If you're able to get this on your smartwatch, use it on "Pokemon Go" as much as you can, as it will only be a matter of time until Niantic discovers this and shuts it down as well. It is still a hack for the game that's pretty unfair, so you can expect them to crack down on it sooner or later. Meanwhile, happy hunting!
