Halo 4 Forward Unto Dawn Release Date: Live-Action Halo Series' First Episode Is Live (Watch Here)

The first episode of "Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn" is now live online and can be watched below.

The first episode is 19-minutes long and begins aboard the wreckage of the Forward Unto Dawn. Aboard the UNSC spaceship is Spartan-117, who appears to be the lone survivor on the space vessel. There is only a quick glimpse of his gold reflective visor, but fan of the series know it is the Master Chief.

The show goes on introduces us to the cadets of the Corbulo Academy of Military Science. The institute is where we meet the shows main protagonist UNSC cadet Thomas Lasky. The cadets at the academy partake in strict training regiments and elaborate war games.

The Special FXs are pretty low key, but impressive for a web series. The cameraman utilizes guerillas tactics, ambushing viewers with over the shoulder angles. The show also goes into a few first-person perspective shots that are topped off with a nod to the Halo series' HUD system. The lone action sequence utilizes stylish slow-motion effects with every bullet and grain of dirt visible.

"Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn," will consist of five episodes leading up to the release of the Halo 4 video game. The five web segments will then be collected, along with 15 minutes of additional footage and turned into a 90-minute feature film.

The cast includes Australian actor Tom Green as Tom Lasky. Fans of the movie franchise "X-Men" will be glad to know that Colossus, Daniel Cudmore, will be donning the armor as Master Chief. British actress Anna Popplewell, who was last seen battling wolves, hags and witches in "Narnia," also has a role in the new series.

The first episode is a delicate mix of teasing fans of what is to come and nods to the video game franchise. It is a little less action packed than I expected it to be, but it has definitely peaked my curiosity.  What do you think of the new web series?
