Operation Overdrive Begins this Weekend for Mass Effect 3

Another bounty weekend is upon us, as the next multiplayer mission for Mass Effect 3 is on the way. Dubbed "Operation Overdrive," the mission involves repelling a major assault from the Reapers. As detailed on the Bioware blog:

Operation OVERDRIVE (October 5th-7th)

Based on intel recovered during Operation PATRIOT, we are anticipating a massive strike from the Reapers on multiple fronts. Our information officers and special-ops teams stationed behind enemy lines require immediate extraction.

Squad Goal: Full extraction on any map at any difficulty in 20 minutes or less. Squads can be any size.

Allied Goal: Complete 200,000 extraction waves on any difficulty. Squads can be any size. Full extraction not required.

Special Circumstance: None

Squad Goal Success: All squad members awarded a Commendation Pack
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack

The last multiplayer event, Operation Patriot, saw players on all three major platforms (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360) narrowly complete Bioware's goal of the destruction of 600,000 Atlas Mechs, with XBox players doing the brunt of the work. XBox gamers took down over half of the mechs at 320,000, followed by PC gamers who destroyed just shy of 200,000, and PS3 gamers rounded out the goal with a little over 80,000.

Unlike Operation Patriot, which offered the rare Argus Assault Rifle, it looks as though no new weapons will be available in this new multiplayer mission.

Ready your M-76's, the mission starts tomorrow..
