FIFA Soccer '13 Release Date: EA Sports' FIFA Sold 4.5 Million Copies Across All Platforms

Electronic Arts announced that FIFA Soccer '13 sold 4.5 million copies across all platforms in the game's first five days on sale. According to EA, FIFA '13's sale make the game "the biggest videogame launch of 2012 and biggest sports videogame launch of all-time." FIFA 13 top the sale charts in at least 40 countries around the world.

FIFA Soccer 13 success was driven by record sales in key regions and led by more than 1.23 million games sold in the first 48 hours in the United Kingdom. According to EA a record breaking 800,000 players plus played the game simultaneously online during the launch's peak activity, giving FIFA 13 "the busiest day for online gaming for a single title in EA history."

"FIFA Soccer 13 is a critical and commercial success unprecedented in sports entertainment," said EA Sports executive vice president Andrew Wilson. "Every minute of every day millions of fans around the world are experiencing what the critics have already said- FIFA Soccer 13 is the biggest and best sports game we have ever created."

EA says that gamers have spent 600 million minutes of online play in more than 66 million online games since the game was released. FIFA Soccer 13 released on Sept. 25 as is now available in retail stores around the world, and as a digital download through Origin.

FIFA 13 is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Wii, Windows PC, PlayStation 2, Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Portable. The game will also release for the Nintendo Wii U on Nov. 18, as a launch title for the new system. FIFA 13 is also available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
