It has been two years since fans of "Sherlock" have watched their favorite duo, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, in Season 3. Now, although the details about the upcoming Season 4 are too scarce, other stars of "Sherlock" are giving little hints of what the British drama series has in store.

A Tearjerker 'Sherlock' Season 4?

At the recent San Diego Comic-Con, Comic Book learned that "Sherlock" Season 4 producer Sue Vertue shed a lot of tears while reading the script of the contemporary version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective stories. On the other hand, Amanda Abbington, who plays the role of Mary Marston Watson, is expecting that the "Sherlock" Season 4 viewers will also feel the same when they've watched the new chapter.

"Yeah, but that's juxtaposed with humor, as it should be because all great should have comedy in it as well, because that's life," Amanda Abbington explained. To recall, the 42-year-old star's character in "Sherlock" Season 3 has been a quite surprised as she revealed herself as an assassin and shot Sherlock Holmes. When the season ends, she appeared to be in good terms with Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman), but she might, once again, do dirty works in "Sherlock" Season 4.

Benedict Cumberbatch Teases The Coming Of 'Sherlock' Season 4

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch hinted the adventure he and the rest of "Sherlock" Season 4 cast are about to show in their return. In fact, he teased that there are greater things about to happen in the new chapter for Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. "It's difficult this one because obviously, you have to manage expectations like I was saying in the panel just now. At the same time, I want to share the joys of what this has got coming for fans," he said at the San Diego Comic-Con panel.

Cinema Blend noted that Benedict Cumberbatch was also quite annoyed that he can only tell limited information to their audience. But, the English actor added that "Sherlock" Season 4 would be very dark with a combination of wit, fast, action and a lot of twists and turns of events. He also added that their fans are about to witness a stronger and deep relationships in "Sherlock" Season 4, but with difficulties.

Evidently, Benedict Cumberbatch promised that "Sherlock" Season 4 will be more exciting this time with a lot of surprises. "Sherlock" Season 4 will be aired in the U.K. on Jan. 1 on BBC, although the U.S. release has yet announced.
