Man Of Steel Release Date: Christopher Nolan Taking A 'Naturalistic Approach' To New Superman (Watch Here)

"Man of Steel" writer David Goyer discussed how the team behind the film approached envisioning Superman in the forthcoming superhero reboot.

Goyer spoke at the Rome Film Fest, which Collider reported via the original report by website Bad Taste, Goyer discussed the more grounded and realistic approach that he, producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder were striving for in the film.

"What Christopher Nolan and I have done with Superman is try to bring the same naturalistic approach that we adopted for the Batman trilogy." Goyer said. "We always had a naturalistic approach, we want our stories to be rooted in reality, like they could happen in the same world we live in."

Goyer also said that the naturalistic approach had to be tweaked due to the character's origin and the source material, which made the approach more difficult than in "Batman Begins."

"It's not that easy with Superman, and actually this doesn't necessarily mean we will make a dark movie," Goyer said. "But working on this reboot we are thinking about what would happen if a story like this one actually happened. How would people react to this? What impact would the presence of Superman in the real world have?"

Goyer also expressed that he wants to stay away from cartoonish elements in the film, something he has don in the past with other scripts.

"What I really like to do is write 'genre' stories without a cartoonish element," Goyer said. "I did the same with Da Vinci's Demons, and I'll do the same with Man of Steel."
