Halo 4 Release Date: Forward Unto Dawn New 'Squad' Trailer (Watch Here)

Spartan-117 is man who has been scientifically altered beyond the zenith of human evolution. He is encased in a half-ton of the formidable Mjolinir armor. He is a myth and legend, who has accomplished impossible feats in the face of terrifying monsters and creatures. The regular soldiers who serve with him stare at the Spartan with astonishment and reverence. But every soldier has their place and their role to serve under the auspices of the United Nations Space Command.

The men and women of the UNSC are fragile beings, who fight for their survival against overwhelming odds. Each soldier with his or her own prerogative, desires, dreams and voice. "Forward Unto Dawn," the live action prologue web series for Halo 4's new trailer takes a deeper look at some of the UNSC's future soldiers that will fight the many battles to come during Master Chief's perilous journey.

According to the series official description on the Halo website, the series is "set against the backdrop of a UNSC military academy, a group of highborn cadets are training to be the next generation of soldiers in the UNSC's ongoing war with insurrectionists in the outer colonial planets."

The show will focus on Thomas Lasky, who is struggling with doubts about this war and description and with the burden of expectations he may not be able to carry. According to the site's description, "as Lasky comes to terms with his potential as a military leader, the terrifying alien alliance known as the Covenant arrives and turns his world upside down. Inspired by the Master Chief, he must decide what it means to be a hero."

The new series premiers on Friday Oct. 5, but the new "Squad" trailer introduces potential viewers to some of the series' characters before the show premieres. The show will also give gamers a look at Master Chief in live-action form, which should be a treat for long-time fans of the video game franchise.

The series is comprised of five 15-minute web episodes that will premiere week-to-week leading up to the Nov. 6 release of Halo 4, The game will release for the Xbox 360 and will be the first number iteration of the series to be developed by 343 Industries rather than Halo creator Bungie.
