The MacBook Pro 2016 is turning out to be the notebook to look forward to with belief that it may be coming out in the open by Q4 of 2016. The hype tied up to its launch already started last month with store pulling out non-Retina MacBook variants.
The rumored features we know so far
The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to carry a lot of new and powerful features. That includes seeing the notebook armed with a more powerful Skylake chip, a better AMD graphics processing unit and an OLED touch bar as mentioned in a previous post.
Physically, the device is expected to be thinner and come in 13-inch and 15-inch variants. Responsible for the thinner make are the metal injection molds (MiM) which many see as a way for Apple to compete with the Microsoft Surface Pro.
'Buggy' USB-C port confirmed?
One of the less popular features is the USB-C port which Apple adopted with the 12-inch MacBook last year. The port has not exactly hit it big with rival companies but Apple is expected to stick with the USB-C port feature for the MacBook Pro 2016.
The USB-C port is smaller and allows users to enjoy faster data-transfer speeds and battery charging. But one thing that other laptop carriers are worried about is the ‘hiccups’.
The port uses an electric current larger than previous ones, something that could lead to interference and heat dissipation problems when adopting too many at once, DigiTimes reported.
Also, the USB-C port would need an amplifier chip, receiver chip and a special transmission wire for high-speed transfer, notes BGR. With those in consideration, such could lead to added production costs.
Either way, it will be interesting how Apple factors it in with the MacBook Pro 2016. With no word on a MacBook Air 2016, this could be the best thing Apple loyalists can look forward to this year.
