Here's a fun fact: with the exception of "Team USA Basketball" for the Sega Genesis and/or putting them in a customized roster, you've probably never played as the 1992 Dream Team in a video game.
Now, "NBA 2K17" is changing all that—2K Sports makes Dream Team available for the first time in franchise history by including the legendary 1992 Olympics lineup as bonus preorder DLC. When we say first time, it means their lineup as the US representatives to the 1992 games.
It's a collaboration between NBA 2K and USA Basketball (the official US representatives to the Olympics), GameSpot reports, bringing veteran players Charles Barkley and Christian Laettner to the series by having them appear in "NBA 2K17." (We were just as surprised as you are that Charles Barkley has not appeared in "NBA 2K.") Meanwhile, you can play the rest of the Dream Team in previous "NBA 2K" games, but only as part of their original NBA teams.
The Dream Team isn't the only Olympics team appearing in "NBA 2K17"—2K has also announced that this year's USA Basketball representatives will also be playable in the game, complete with Olympics coach Mike Krzyzewski. Coach K also appears in the tutorials. The Australian men's basketball team is also an addition to the game, featuring championship-winning center Andrew Bogut and notorious Cleveland Cavaliers player Matthew Dellavedova.
"NBA 2K17" is dropping on September 20 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game releases in both the regular edition (with cover star Indiana Pacer Paul George) and the Legend Edition with Kobe Bryant on the cover, featuring Kobe Bryant and a lot of other extras, including early access four days before the official release date.
