Official Zombie Mode Revealed for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (Watch it Here!)

After numerous teases, Treyarch has finally and officially announced the zombie mode for its upcoming shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Check it out below!

That moment when the shuffling and wailing of zombies is interrupted by the guitar riff comes courtesy of Avenged Sevenfold, just in case you were wondering.

This latest addition makes it the the third time in the Call of Duty series that players will face off against zombies. The difference here is that Black Ops II's Zombie mode will have its own campaign (as indicated by the map screen) along with the main story, a first for the Call of Duty series.

Unlike so many horror movies, the campaign will actually address the origin of the zombie affliction, and how the hungry horde came to be.

More players will be able to play the Zombie mode with a group of friends than in their previous Call of Dutys, where only four max could play co-op. Black Ops 2's Zombie mode will support up to 8 players. Treyarch also announced in August 2012 that Nuketown would be remade as a zombie map for those buying Hardened or Care Package Edition of Black Ops 2.

Beyond the Zombie mode, the majority of Black Ops 2, as indicated by the trailer, appears to be set in a war-torn Los Angeles in the year 2025. The People's Republic of China has invaded Los Angeles due to a global struggle involving rare earth minerals. However, according to Black Ops 2's director David Anthony, we will take a trip back to the 80's where we'll meet a younger version of Menendez, and see how events of the past shaped him into the man he becomes. While China is invading, Menendez manages to infiltrate America's drone network, and use it against us. We'd like to think that this is a far fetched plot, or at least an incredibly difficult to achieve one, but a team from the University of Texas has recently proven otherwise.

Players will play as Alex Mercer's (Black Ops protagonist) son, David. Alex will return in Black Ops 2, as will Frank Woods. Players will be able to make choices throughout the game that will affect the story, including a variety of endings.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is set for release on November 13, 2012, and will be available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, with an eventual release for the Nintendo Wii U.
