Samsung is all set to unveil the much awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 7, something that will reportedly be made available on the same day. Though the phablet is the talk of the town these days, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has started to make its rounds.
Though talk surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S8 may be a bit premature, the fact is that most of its upcoming features have been teased with the current Galaxy S7. Free Samsung Gear VRs came along with the last Samsung flagship so it doesn’t come much of a surprise that its successor will take it to the next level.
VR-ready
With virtual reality slowly creating buzz, Techtastic.nl sees the Samsung Galaxy S8 sporting a UHD screen. The display would render 3840 x 2160 pixels, a large jump from what the Oculus Rift has (2160x1200 pixels).
Like most Galaxy S models, there will be a standard and ‘Edge’ model. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge will reportedly come out with a 5.5-inch display screen with the regular version either sporting a smaller or similar screen.
Powerful specs needed
To provide ample support to the VR-ready screen, the internal specs need to be powerful enough for it to perform smoothly. It could come out with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 or another Exynos chipset, coupled with a sane GPU requirement to account for high resolution displays.
With due consideration to the virtual reality capabilities, the Samsung Galaxy S8 would need a GPU strong enough to support the device. AMD and Nvidia have their share of potential GPU offerings though it will be interesting how Samsung will be able to integrate and fit them into the mobile device.
Those are the rumored specs for now with more ample ones likely needed to support the next Samsung Galaxy flagship. But the clear thing is that the device will cater to the virtual reality, a (Project) dream that should be interesting to wait on.
