Good news for everyone who still has old Xbox 360 games lying around: Microsoft has announced two more additions to the Xbox One's list of backward-compatible games. Bad news: these games are probably not popular games many of you want to play on the next-gen console.
GameSpot reports that Microsoft announced Xbox One support for "Syberia" and "Boom Boom Rocket." "Boom Boom Rocket" is a fireworks rhythm game—something like "Fantavision," a fireworks game that was released early in the Playstation 2's life back in 2000—that was originally released for Xbox Live Arcade in 2007. "Syberia," on the other hand, is an adventure game that was originally released for the PC back in 2002. It was critically-acclaimed, but isn't really a popular title.
Both Xbox 360 games are available on the Xbox Store for only $10, or you can download them from the store if you've already purchased them. If you have an actual copy of "Syberia," you can just put it in the console and download an update to play the game.
The list of backward-compatible Xbox 360 games on Xbox One is a growing list, one that was grew exponentially with the addition of "Red Dead Redemption" to the list. "Syberia" and "Boom Boom Rocket" join "Red Dead Redemption" and other games like the first "Borderlands," "Fallout 3" and "Fallout: New Vegas," "Mass Effect," "Mirror's Edge," and many others. You can check a full list compiled by GameSpot here.
It's unclear whether the new Xbox One S releasing on August 2 or the upcoming Project Scorpio will also retain backward-compatibility for Xbox 360 games. It's likely that the Xbox One S will retain this same compatibility as it will just be a slimmer version of the Xbox One, but obviously none of these older games will have full 4K compatibility.
