One device in Apple’s lineup that has so far been overlooked is the iPad Air line. With most talking about the iPhone and the MacBook, the status of a possible iPad Air 3 has been left out with many believing that it could be one of the products getting axed.
On a positive note, there is growing speculation that the iPad Air 3 could still come out. This is despite the tablet’s no show at the WWDC 2016 which was technically an all software show. Looking however at the pattern, a small glimmer of hope could alter the course of the almost forgotten Apple tablet.
iPad Air 3 Waiting for October
To date, Apple has two iPads to show. The first iPad came out on Oct. 22, 2013 and the iPad Air 2 followed the year after, Oct. 16, 2014. If the pattern continued, the iPad Air 3 should have come out in October, 2015. Nothing materialized but we are just three months away from the month of spooks yet again.
Ramping up beliefs of an iPad Air 3 coming sprung back to life last month when retailers started offering the iPad Air 2 models at a discounted price. The present tablet was being offered with a huge $250 price off in a move seen to clear up stock for some new item that may be imminently arriving.
Each time this happens, the first thing that comes to mind is the successor of the item being put up for sale. And it doesn’t take much effort to speculate that it could (possibly) be the iPad Air 3.
Potential features of the iPad Air 3
Though all these remain presumptions, the grapevine has already come up with speculations on what the iPad Air 3 could bring. That includes a thinner mold that the iPad Air 2 with expected ramped up internal specs.
An A9 chip will likely be used on the iPad Air 3, similar to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The 3D touch feature could be a dandy addition though the chances of seeing that on the 3rd gen iPad Air remains to be seen.
Will there be an iPad Air 3? Right now the safest conclusion is that the line has not yet been totally killed. Hope floats for a successor until Apple officially announces its demise.
