NBA 2K13 Demo Released And New Trailer Reveals Controls System

The days of paper instruction manuals are definitely over. NBA 2K13's new trailer shows gamers how to dish the ball, shoot the rock, and break ankles using the game's new control scheme. And of course it is set to some music.

The new control system will make use of the analog sticks for example if a player wants to pull off a spin move, you will have to twirl the right stick clockwise. Want to keep the defender guess? You can use the stutter step by moving the right stick and pressing it toward the hoop or move the left stick away from the hoop when the ball is the virtual player's right hand to pull off a step back.

While previous editions of NBA 2K have provided truly complex and rewarding authentic steps, moves and shooting motions, the complexities and button arrangements were a little difficult to master for a novice audience. But the new system appears to remedy this miscue and not alienate the year-in-and-year out hardcore baller.

The right stick was used for shooting in pass versions of NBA 2K, but not will control both ball handler moves and shooting. Will fans of the series take to the new control system? We will have to wait and see.

But the good news is the NBA 2K13 demo is now available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live for download, featuring one quarter of the Miami Heat vs. Oklahoma City Thunder.

The demo will not only introduce gamers to the new controls but also to 2K's new online play, something that has been a weakness in the series. The demo will not have any commentary. Check our review of the demo here.
