‘Watch Dogs 2’ Latest News, Release Date & Update: Ubisoft Sees Bright Future For Open World Sequel

Ubisoft made a fortune with “Watch Dogs” so it is not surprising to find the company being optimistic for the upcoming sequel. “Watch Dogs 2” was revealed at E3 and could be a potential blockbuster with its advanced changes made by the developing team.

Next big Ubisoft title

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillermot sees “Watch Dogs 2” having the potential to join other games under its wing that have hit well with the gaming sector. He believes that the seamless online functionality and player co-op will key towards that route.

Aside from that, there is the usual storyline that most games have. He cites the engaging characters (i.e. Marcus Holloway) for “Watch Dogs 2” as something to look out for with the setting placed in a hacker-like culture.

Well-received at E3

When “Watch Dogs 2” made its debut at E3, the reception was overwhelming. A encore could be to see how it does in the market once it officially comes out on Nov. 15.

"We believe that Watch Dogs 2 is a very high potential AAA blockbuster for this year," said CFO Alain Martinez via Videogamer.com. "We haven't given… exactly the number of units [we] expect to deliver, but we do believe that Watch Dogs 2 will sit very close to what Watch Dogs did last time. And as you said we might expect better."

Can it follow “Watch Dog” success?

The Ubisoft bosses believe it is doable but it would be best to note what “Watch Dogs 2” has to achieve. Looking back at the first installment, “Watch Dogs” broke records in 2014 after selling 4 million copies in just the first two weeks, Game Spot reported.

To break that, “Watch Dogs 2” needs to be good as hyped. All that will be known by November with Ubisoft offering game versions for the PS4, Xbox One and the PC.
