For all the beauty of the upcoming "Final Fantasy 7" remake on next-gen gaming systems, it seems as though Square Enix currently doesn't have any plans of porting the game to the Nintendo NX.
Well, Nintendo NX compatibility isn't the only thing missing from the "Final Fantasy 7" remake—since its announcement by Square Enix in last year's E3 and a trailer featuring gameplay footage of the famous Shinra Corporation bombing mission intro sequence, there hasn't really been much word about the remake.
However, director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that development of the "Final Fantasy 7" remake is still heavily underway despite a lack of updates from Square Enix. While there is no scheduled release date as of the moment, it's still happening. Nomura said in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu that they're preparing the game for a big info reveal, instead of releasing small bits and pieces every now and then.
Right now, all we know about the "Final Fantasy VII" remake is that the game will take place over many episodes so that the story is prolonged and better fleshed-out, and the system has been completely overhauled to play like an action RPG instead of a traditional JRPG, as the "Final Fantasy" games have traditionally been.
As for Square Enix's other "Final Fantasy" projects, "Final Fantasy XV's" director, Hajime Tabata previously confirmed that as of the moment, the game is also not coming to the Nintendo NX. Looks like the next-gen Nintendo console is not getting any of the "Final Fantasy" love in the foreseeable future, but players shouldn't rule it out.
As soon as Square Enix reveals more info about both "Final Fantasy VII" and "Final Fantasy XV," we'll let you know. "Final Fantasy XV" is scheduled for release on September 30.
