Known primarily for their shirts, manufacturer Jinx is starting to broaden their merchandise a little bit, and with Assassin's Creed 3's release rapidly approaching, what better way than by giving Assassin fans everywhere the means to turn the tables on the templars? Try saying that 5 times fast.
After all, there's nothing like your own trusty tomahawk to turn British redcoats into mincemeat, right? Well, if that's what you're after, keep looking.
While Jinx's tomahawk looks mighty deadly, and impressive (they did base the design on Assassin's Creed 3 game files), the reality is a bit of a letdown. The item is actually "made from PU Latex with a fiberglass insert."
Obviously it's a smart move on Jinx's part not to easily make a deadly weapon easily available to the public, but it's still disappointing. It's reminescent of when Rocksteady promised an actual Batarang was coming to anyone who bought the collector's edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum. What gamers got was a piece of molded plastic forever stuck to a stand.
And what, pray tell, do you think an item of this magnitude might be worth? $15, maybe $20? Nope. Jinx has the item priced at $45, which is quite a lot to ask for some crafted foam rubber. While the tomahawk would be a great accent to anyone hoping to do a bit of cosplaying, to anyone else, it's just not worth it.
For anyone hoping for their own Assassin gear, just a bit cooler, try checking out GameStop's hidden blade, modeled after Ezio's. While the piece of plastic is not as deadly as Ezio's, it's still a lot cooler than a bit of foam rubber. Better price tag too. The spring loaded blade will go for $40 when it becomes available when Assassin's Creed 3 releases. Connor will be sporting his own when Assassin's Creed 3 comes out on October 30.
