In the wake of hugely positive response to gameplay videos and trailers, it looks like the risk that EA took in making "Battlefield 1" a World War I title has paid off. Now, just around three months before its release date, we get a closer look at "Battlefield 1" through new leaks and a brand-new video.
A big data leak by redditor /u/Lobix300 has shown new information taken from the "Battlefield 1" closed alpha. The information that Lobix300 has gathered shows that the single-player campaign will consist of 7 episodes, each divided into chapters. There will be 20 chapters in all.
The leak also revealed what may be some of the names of the main characters in the "Battlefield 1" campaign. A possibly incomplete list includes Pritchard, McManus, Finch, Townsend, and Edwards.
"Battlefield 1" will also feature 30 different World War I weapons, such as the Lee Enfield Mk III SMLE, the Baretta M1915, the Winchester M1895, and others. The leak also showed several gadgets and a variety of melee weapons that players will get to use.
"Battlefield 1" will be shipping with 10 multiplayer maps, with their internal names revealed such as "MP_Suez," "MP_MountainFort," and "MP_Argonne." There will also be 8 game modes, including Breakthrough, Rush, Conquest, Team Deathmatch, and Behemoth. The last mode may be related to the behemoth vehicles, such as the airship, that are being introduced to the game,
Eurogamer also showed a 45-minute gameplay video from the "Battlefield 1" Closed Alpha, which came hot on the heels of EA changing their minds about the NDA they put on coverage of the alpha.
Meanwhile, DICE engineer Julian Manolov has indicated that the dev team is aiming for "Battlefield 1" to have a 60Hz server tickrate, though it might not happen on launch. The Closed Alpha currently runs at 60Hz on PC and 30Hz on consoles. Manolov also confirmed that the console versions of the game will sport a FOV slider.
"Battlefield 1" is being released on October 21 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
