The "Avengers" movie was huge success for Marvel and their film studio and for comic book fans it was the realization of a childhood dream. The fact that we live in a golden age of comic book films is amazing. "The Dark Knight Rises," was a great but flawed movie that nearly followed its source material. The end of the Christopher Nolan trilogy means we can finally start the speculation about a Justice League of America movie.
The Justice League, also called the Justice League of America or JLA, is a fictional superhero team that appears in comic books published by DC Comics. The initial Justice League lineup includes seven of the DC superheroes being published regularly at that time: Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman.
What we know so far is that the Batman franchise will likely be rebooted within the Justice League movie and that the film adaptation should hit theaters sometime in 2015. The Wachowskis have become favorites to direct the film, after execs have applauded the duo's new film "Cloud Atlas." The search for a director is still ongoing and has produced weird choices and hated choices.
No exact release date or casting has been announced but there are rumors of Lobo being included. We know that the Zack Snyder direct "Man of Steel" will release next year and could be the beginning for "The Justice League of America film." So we will start our list of who should be cast in the Justice League movie with the red and blue Boy Scout.
Superman: I say you go with the guy who is starring in the reboot, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman. We really don't know how Cavill is going to do as the last son of Krypton, but we have to have faith in a Nolan produced adaptation of a comic book character. Cavill was pretty good in his limited role on the TV show "The Tudors." He certainly is physically fit and looks the part of Superman, but his ability to make Clark Kent likeable is key to the success of "the Man of Steel" and a future Justice League movie.
Batman: This is by far the hardest choice. I really enjoyed the Tim Burton "Batman Series" and the Nolan "Dark Knight Trilogy." I am going with Hugh Jackman, he has that ability to be a suave businessman. But as we all know he can be the rugged super hero. If you can separate him from the role of Wolverine, I think you will come to like this choice.
Flash: Sean William Scott as Wally West. I think Scott has played the immature character to perfection and in a Justice League film the Flash can play that pivotal role of the brash and stupid young hero. If you are going Barry Allen I would like someone like Nathan Fillion.
Green Lantern: I like Ryan Reynolds and I do not think he was what was wrong with the "Green Lantern" movie. But I would go with the John Stewart rendition of the character rather than the Hal Jordan version. I would really like to see Idris Elba in this role. He has that commanding presence that could really make him an awesome addition to the film.
Aquaman: The king of Atlantis doesn't suck! His orange and green costume does. I think you have to treat the character like Bryan Singer treated Iceman in his X-Men films. Let his power be subtly at first, but then let him do something amazing. Ryan Gosling as Arthur Curry will make people take Aquaman seriously.
Wonder Woman: Lynn Collins could totally believable as Diana Prince. Collins has taken the iconic roles of Silver Fox in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and Dejah Thoris in "John Carter." She attended Juilliard, she is not as well known, but has the acting chops to pull off the role. She is only 5-foot-8, but a little camera magic can make her seem taller.
