‘Last Man on Earth’ Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Updates: Major Plot Twists Are Coming? Old Characters Are Returning?

The "Last Man on Earth" TV series is not signing off as FOX renewed its contract for another season. The Season 3 has been confirmed to premiere on Sept. 25 and there have been many speculations about what the next plot will be.

The Season 2 of the "Last Man on Earth" aired its last episode on May 15 and the it was viewed by about 2.2 million viewers in the United States. The finale concluded with a cliffhanger when the earthling survivors saw two boat-riding men coming to shore. They were heavily armed and wearing hazmat suits so their identities remained a mystery for now.

With that kind of ending, will Season 3 continue where it left off? Will Forte, creator and lead star of the "Last Man on Earth," is mum about the upcoming storyline but he told Entertainment Weekly, "We'll pick up where we left off. That's something I can tell you."

Philip Tandy was going to meet his brother astronaut brother Mike Miller, but on Season 2 he was presumed to be dying (or have died) already since he was also afflicted with the virus that wiped out the humans on earth. However, he was not shown bleeding to death or lying in a coffin, so it is possible too see Jason again in season 3?

Forte said that the possibilities are endless but he is still not certain whether he will return. He added that they have lots of ideas and as much as possible, they want to tap on new angles and push into new territories.

Moreover, since Erica and Carol are pregnant in Season 2, they are set to give birth and start their families as well as repopulate the world in Season 3. Forte revealed that this issue about family even became a hot topic among the female writers.

"Two women were saying, ‘There's no way, in this type of society, would I ever have a kid. And the other two were like, ‘Well, you have to produce offspring to keep mankind going,'" he told Deadline.

"Last Man on Earth" is an American sitcom written and directed by Will Forte. The series, which has been airing on FOX channel since March 2015, gave Forte two Emmy's and three other awards for his acting, writing and directing excellence.
