‘X-Men’ Next Film Rumors & Update: Apocalypse Follow-up Happening in 2018?

“X-Men: Apocalypse” was the last Marvel movie featuring the uncanny mutants and one thing in the minds of fans is what lies ahead. Will there be a new film in the horizon?

The only thing for sure is that “X-Men: Apocalypse” was not the last. But for Fox, the focus right now is working on the Marvel heroes individually. The first one up is “Wolverine 3” which will be Hugh Jackman’s last portrayal of “Logan” and then “Deadpool 2” which could be out as early as February, 2018.

With those in line, the next “X-Men” film could very well appear towards the end of 2018. The speculation cropped up following writer/producer Simon Kinberg’s exclusive interview on “That Hashtag Show”.

Kinberg was placed in a spot when he was asked about the future of the “X-Men” franchise. Though no update has been given for now, the interview is the best thing to ponder on for now. In the interview, he detailed the upcoming schedule of films capped by the time left for him to possibly write a new script for the next “X-Men” film.

Either way, the only thing certain is that there will be another “X-Men” film coming though the plot for it is something to think about.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” did show that post-credit scene hinting at “Mr. Sinister” at playing villain in some form but the cast members who would be returning pose another interesting angle to tackle per Cinema Blend.

The mutants left towards the end of “X-Men: Apocalypse” will likely be back for that next installment. With no script in the works for now, a possible scenario would be to see the rising group hone their skills and meet another new villain which may not be limited to “Mr. Sinister”.

There is no guarantee as well for now if Kinberg and Bryan Singer will be back to write the script. Unless Fox wants to take a chance on someone else, “X-Men’s” next chapter could start shaping up by next year.
