WWE SummerSlam 2016 Latest News And Updates: Brock Lesnar Vs. Randy Orton Made official

‘The Beast’ takes on ‘The Apex Predator’ on August 21 WWE PPV

Brock Lesnar is currently gearing up for his upcoming UFC 200 bout with Mark Hunt but his next match will be in a WWE ring.

With WWE SummerSlam 2016 slates to happen on Aug. 21, 2016, Brock Lesnar has already been booked for the event and his opponent will be Randy Orton. The Bleacher Report adds that no title will be on the line though the announcement does raise a lot of questions which are centered on injuries.

Will Brock Lesnar be ready by August?

Brock Lesnar will be returning to the Octagon against Mark Hunt for UFC 200 with his health state mattering more than a victory. The important thing to consider is his physical nature after the event where injuries could incur.

With that in mind, the WWE may have overlooked that possibility unless they were pretty confident that the “Beast Incarnate” would come out of the cage healthy and in one piece. Lesnar has proven to be a force but his long layoff from mixed martial arts could show.

What is Randy Orton’s real health status?

For those who have been following the WWE, Randy Orton has been out of action since October of last year. He suffered a shoulder injury and his current state remains unknown.

The call by the WWE via WhatCulture is a curious one unless Orton has already been given the green light to compete. If so, Orton could be back in the WWE ring as early as WWE Battleground though there is no indication of such for now.

If not WWE Battleground, Orton could return on the WWE Raw edition following the pay-per-view.

Possible storylines

Matches are nothing in the WWE without storylines. Right now, it is anyone’s guess on who will be the crowd favorite and the heel. If the current events are to be considered, a lot could hinge on the UFC 200 outcome.

One scenario could result if Lesnar loses. He will likely be hit hard by the WWE with Orton adding insult to injury. If this happens, Lesnar is the face and Orton is the heel.

Conversely, a Lesnar win could see “The Beast Incarnate” pushing his weight around. Orton could come out and show him how a beating is rendered, making the “Apex Predator” the face against Lesnar.

While these storylines could make sense, it still depends on the state of health for both. The WWE may have jumped the gun but could also be aware of something people are not.
