‘The Flash’ Movie Latest News and Updates: Kiersey Clemmons To Play Iris West?

Warner Brothers “The Flash” is set to hit the big screen on March 23, 2018 where Ezra Miller will be the portraying Barry Allen or the red speedster. The superhero flick will be directed by Rick Famuyiwa who is busy looking into who will comprise the supporting cast.

Similar to the TV version, “The Flash” will need someone to portray Barry Allen’s love interest – Iris West. Variety teases that Famuyiwa may have just found that special girl and it is “Dope” actress Kiersey Clemmons.

Clemmons is reportedly Famuyiwa’s top choice though Warner Bros. has yet to comment on the leak. Famuyiwa has a big task ahead of him, replacing previous director Seth Grahame-Smith who left due to creative differences.

The potential casting of Clemmons for “The Flash” could also be for other characters in the film. But as Variety notes, the most likely choice is “Iris West”.

Clemmons star rising

Famuyiwa may have taken note of Clemmons’ rising star from her performance on “Dope”. Aside from the 2015 crime-drama, Clemmons also appears on “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and is scheduled to appear in the 1990 film remake “Flatliners”.

It remains to be seen if Clemmons will accept the role which will likely include appearances on other DC-connected films. The most notable of the mix is “Justice League Part One” which is set to come out on Nov. 17, 2017, according to Screen Rant.

Other possible “Iris West” contenders

If Clemmons opts to pass on the project, The Hollywood Reporter claims that there are at least two other actresses on the list. The two are Rita Oro from “Fifty Shades of Grey” and Lucy Boynton from “Sing Street”.

 Flawed version?

Ezra Miller will have big shoes to fill as he tries to improve on what “The Flash” TV series has so far accomplished. The TV version stars Grant Gustin which will open its third season this October.

Miller explained how the movie rendition will be a more flawed version, citing through EW that his character will be grounded in reality to balance heroism and humanity.
