First Borderlands 2 Review Is In!

UK videogame magazine GamesMaster is the first to get the word out for Gearbox's role-playing shooter Borderlands 2. It's said if you have nothing nice to say, than don't say anything at all. This is NOT the case for GameMaster's opinion on Borderlands 2.

The mag gave the game an impressive overall score of 95 percent, declaring it, "Bigger. Ballsier. Bullet-ier. Borderlands 2 is the antidote to stuffy military shooters," and that it's "the prettiest game of 2012."

While I'm sure we all enjoy our personal time, GameMasters says Borderlands 2 will be the exception to that particular rule, saying that the co-op mode "soars," so much so that once you've tried it, "going back to being on your lonesome isn't quite as fun."

This is one of the major titles I'm looking forward to getting my hands on, and reviews like this just make me want it more. Why? Lead writer Anthony Burch puts it rather elegantly, when he described it at gamescom as "a game made by gamers, because it's just full of all these things that gamers really tend to like: leveling up, loot, all this strategy. But that's also sort of bled into the story, and there's a lot of stuff that's very clearly trying to buck against videogame cliches."

Overall, the review just makes the hands on the clock tick by that much slower. Unless you work for the mag, you'll get your hands on Borderlands 2 when it releases September 18. Expect our own review on the game shortly thereafter.
