NBA 2K13 Release Date: 2K Sports Lets Gamers Create Real Sneakers

Over the past two years, the NBA 2K series has given gamers Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and just about every great player in NBA history. This year's edition promises improved game play, the 1992 Dream Team, a new soundtrack hand selected by Grammy winner Jay-Z and an improved career experience that now features basically a virtual sneaker factory.

NBA 2K13 has a new expanded currency system that rewards players with points to purchase items from a vast catalog. 2K Sports has spent the offseason crafting a grand glimpse into the life of an NBA player.

The My Career mode takes you from a draft-day handshake with NBA commissioner David Stern to negotiating contracts in NBA GM's plush office. 2K Style Closet allows player to dress in the proper attire for all types of situations including game day, game arrival and on the streets.

According to a report by IGN, NBA 2K13's Shoe Creator is, "the equivalent of Forza Motorsport 4's livery system," allowing player to choose different materials, colors, patterns, and more. There are 45 layers to add details and gamers can upload their favorite shoes to the web, where other users can rate them.

Gamers can take their created shoes and use the NikeID website and to actually have their virtual shoe made sent to them. Here is the chance to out do every NBA player in the league and make some incredible sneakers for the hardwood. Forget about Air Jordans, it is time for the Atmosphere Pierres, the Flight-Mikes, any other outlandish names for shoes gamers can think of.

NBA 2K13's release date is Oct. 2, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, Wii U, and Wii. Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers, and Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls are the cover athletes.
