As far as the comics are concerned, sides need to be chosen for “Civil War II”. With a wide variety of superheroes comprising the Marvel Universe, one group comes to mind – “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
For those who are unaware of the storylines, “Civil War II” will center on the story of an inhuman named “Ulysees”. His ability is to foresee the future and such is used by the superheroes as a guide to prevent the impending conflicts from getting out of hand per Screen Rant.
Multiple teams of superheroes act on Ulysees’ predictions but end up dealing with a similar issue brought up on Civil War I – security or civil rights.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” caught in the crossfire
“Guardians of the Galaxy” were not much of a factor in “Civil War 1” but all that may change in the sequel. With the group scripted to spend more time on earth, “Peter Quill” and the gang will be caught up in the conflict and may eventually be forced to pick a side.
“Drax”, “Gamora”, “Groot”and “Rocket” will have a new ally in “Angela”, all of which may end up choosing a side. Though series writer Brian Michael Bendis is not talking, there is a chance that the entire group will not be on the same team according to Comic Book Resources.
The choices are either ‘Team Iron Man’ or ‘Team Captain Marvel’. Making the decision (if needed) interesting is the fact that both Iron Man and Captain Marvel have ties with the “Guardians”.
“In my earliest outline drafts for "Civil War II" I had the Guardians coming into the story midway through, because the first two human members of the Guardians from my run were Tony Stark and Carol Danvers. So it's 'who called them into the fight'? And whose side are they on?” explained Bendis when asked on how the Guardians get involved in the frenzy.
Will the “Guardians” side as a whole or will it be an individual decision? Check out the video below.
