Ray Allen has long been out of the NBA scene but several teams are still interested in signing up the service of the 40-year-old long bomber. The list includes the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers, both in search of a low-cost player.
Without question, Ray Allen can still play ball but probably at a certain degree. With outside shooting seen as a need for teams wanting to open up the middle, the three-point specialist can contribute immensely. But the question is where?
Golden State considering Ray Allen
Seeing that they have stocked up their roster with high-salaried players, adding Allen is seen as probable for the Warriors. Allen is among the shortlisted candidates for the Warriors roster though other names such as Mario Chalmers and Kendrick Perkins are said to be in the wish list per the San Francisco Chronicle.
Cleveland Cavaliers an option?
Word of Ray Allen hooking up with old buddy Lebron James is not necessarily new and that option is once again in play.
According to ESPN, Ray Allen is reportedly interest and could be timely. With Matthew Delladedova headed to the Milwaukee Bucks, Allen could be a good replacement for the 25-year-old guard.
San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers in pursuit
The San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers have been known to take in veterans so hearing that Ray Allen is an option isn’t a surprise as well.
Ray Allen is up for consideration and the next move will depend on whether he is bent on returning or not.
Active until officially retiring
For all intents and purposes, Ray Allen is technically a free agent even at 40. Despite being out of the NBA scene for more than two years now, many believe that he can still be an asset.
Though he may not have the same legs as before, the fact is NBA teams are placing premium on shooters. Being one of the dreaded outside shooting specialists, it is no secret that age does not define what Allen brings to any NBA team.
