You can expect a studio like Bethesda Softowkrs to really be thorough in their efforts to build an immersive world. You've seen them pour a lot of work into making all the little details in all the "Elder Scrolls" games no matter what generation it is, and "Fallout" is no different.
In "Fallout 4," your NPC robot companion Codsworth knows a ton of names, which he can drop in everyday conversation whenever he's referring to you, no matter what your name is. (That, on top of insulting you every now and then.) That's one edge he has over "Borderlands"' Claptrap, and now GamesRadar reports that Codsworth has been updated to learn over 300 (300!) new names.
The support for all these new names all comes in "Fallout 4"'s latest update, Patch 1.6, and the new 300+ name update brings the total names Codsworth knows to around a whopping 1,200. One thousand and two hundred. That might set a new record for the most number of names a video game A.I. knows. People over on Reddit have discovered the full list lurking in the game's files.
Here are some of the more interesting names Bethesda added to Codsworth's vocabulary:
- [John] Cena
- Fry (we assume this is in reference to "Futurama"'s Fry)
- Heisenberg (from "Breaking Bad")
- Joffrey (obviously, from "Game of Thrones")
- Sherlock [Holmes]
- Rhianna
- [Captain] Phasma (from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens")
- [James] Bond
- Drake
And many more common names. For a quick list, you can check out this video, too:
Patch 1.6 is now available for the PC version of "Fallout 4," while the Xbox One and Playstation 4 updates are coming next week. Other than adding the new names, there aren't really any other significant changes that came with this patch; the patch notes just list general improvements for the game, dealing with stability issues and bugs, as well as more support for mods.
