All comic fans know that death is not a permanent thing, no matter what universe you're in, no matter what franchise you follow. Both DC and Marvel love bringing back heroes they've killed off, and it's not much different from the universes we see on the screen.
After seemingly killing him off in the first "Avengers," S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson returned in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." But there might be another "Captain America"-related character coming back from the dead.
Actor Frank Grillo, who played Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in "Captain America: Winter Soldier" and "Captain America: Civil War," may have something to say about the fate of his character. He's hinting--or maybe hoping--that the unstoppable supervillain he plays in the movies may not be as dead as we thought, after the first scene of "Captain America: Civil War" showed Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch seemingly killing him off.
"You think he dies, don't you? Did you see the body?" Grillo says in his appearance on Good Morning America. He reasons that because we don't really see the body after the huge blast that happens in the opening scenes in Lagos, Nigeria (which sets the events of the movies in motion) Brock Rumlow must probably not be dead.
GamesRadar theorizes that if Rumlow is alive after "Captain America: Civil War," it's probably due to the customized armor he was wearing. If that's the case, then we certainly hope it's true.
Crossbones is too important a nemesis in Captain America's stories to be cast aside just like that, even though there are bigger and badder villains for the heroes to face in subsequent Marvel movies. Perhaps Grillo can appear as Crossbones on TV, whether it's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." or any of the Marvel shows on Netflix, where he also fits.
Captain America is most likely going to appear again two years from now. Up next for the Avengers is the two-part "Infinity War," which will most likely finally deal with Thanos, after many years and different movies teasing his involvement with Earth's heroes (after already making a considerable appearance in 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy").
"Avengers: Infinty War Part 1" is scheduled to come out on May 4, 2018, and "Infinity War Part 2" a year later on May 3, 2019.
