DayZ Creator Dean "Rocket" Hall Presenting at This Year's Eurogamer Expo

Eurogamer Expo, the UK's biggest gaming festival, confimed that DayZ creator Dean "Rocket" Hall will be presenting a developer session this year, where he'll discuss and take audience questions about taking DayZ from a mod to a stand alone title.

"Dean and his team are developing one of the most exciting games in the world right now, so we're really thrilled that he's coming over to talk about their latest work in detail," said Eurogamer Operations Director Tom Bramwell.

DayZ created a resurgence for ArmA 2, as many gamers have only bought the 2010 game solely so they could play the mod. As a result, ArmA 2 is currently one of the most played and popular games on Steam.

The mod and its success story is also an obvious influence on the upcoming The War Z, and as of early August, DayZ counts over one million players. On making the mod a standalone, Hall recently told VG24/7 he plans on "following the Minecraft model of a low price point, but that will only work if we say that everyone is going to pay. In order for people to not feel ripped off we need to have a load of new content; so, things like base-building, tidying and cleaning up animations and add rag-doll physics as the like.

Hall joins other speakers this year, including Hideo Kojima, Frank O'Connor of 343 Industries, and Peter Molyneux. The sessions also include open Q&A sessions so gamers can quiz the speakers.

Hall will take stage for over an hour at 4pm on Thursday, September 27. The Eurogamer Expo takes place at Earls Court, London from September 27 to 30, and is expected to attract over 50,000 gamers.
