The Last Driver by Chillingo is an iOS game about a world ravaged by Nuclear Annihilation, Zombie Apocalypse and Alien Invasion. Yes all of these catastrophic events are happening at the same time and there are even dinosaurs.
As the game's website says, "there's only one way to drive: FAST and DANGEROUSLY! As The Last Driver you must career through a ravaged cityscape blasting zombies out of the way with an arsenal of car mounted cannons. This IS NOT 'Drivers Ed' this is SURVIVAL!"
Most of your time playing the game will be spent dodging to the left or right, mowing down monstrous zombies and jumping over volcanic ravines via makeshift ramps. You also have an armored car with a machine gun strapped to the roof for a little well-timed monster sniping.
The graphics are descent but there is some break-up and draw-ins. The in-game environments offer a lot of variety for a free-to-play title and really shine. The ride is never boring as cars and barrels get tossed at you and bridges explode. Crashing into over-sized zombies, buildings, cars and roadblocks drain your life bar in about four to five hits. If you total your car you are force to start all over again.
Some of the layouts are really frustrating and offer a few head shaking moments. The game has a garage system to upgrade your road-warrior car or purchase a new vehicle entirely.
The Last Driver is an average game, but a good way to waste sometime on your iPhone or iPad, while waiting at the DMV. I give the game a 6/10.
