In an age where TV shows have garnered huge success from fictional characters, one group that could be hit would be the “X-Men” who could be highlighted via “Legion”.
Right now, the Marvel brand has been making its rounds in the big screen along with some individual stories touching on each member’s origin. Could ‘Legion’ (Dan Stevens) be a gateway for some mutant-powered characters soon?
Skimming down the list of superhero-backed TV shows, we see Marvel brands like “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones” and upcoming ones like “Luke Cage”, “Iron Fist” and “Defenders”. So why not have a show touching on less popular mutants?
Fox adapting 'X-properties'
Speaking of less popular mutants, a lot were on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”. Depending on how much of a comic book nut people one would be, personalities like “Skye” or even the “Inhumans” were not well-known to the majority.
But all that has changed so why not tackle on some mutants from the “X-Men” series though “Legion”?
“Legion” of opportunities
Executive producer Simon Kinberg knows of the challenge of bringing the “X-Men” into the world of TV and “Legion” could be that gateweay. This is despite earlier word that the series will have no ties with the X-verse as pointed out by Screen Rant.
“’Legion’ is, again, in a different direction: really character-based, really granular in terms of getting inside the details of the characters. It stands as part of the ‘X-Men’ universe, but it stands apart from it as well,” says Kinberg from Movie Fone.
It remains to be seen what Kinberg and company have planned though it may be up to a certain degree. Major X-Men characters are unlikely to show up in the same way the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” has done, another challenge for FX.
To date, there is no official release date for “Legion” though there is growing belief that it could be up for a late 2016 release.
