'Half-Life 3' Release Date, News & Update: Will Valve Launch VR-Ready Installment Soon? All-new Game Features Revealed!

The wait continues for a possible “Half-Life 3” though most of the things coming out have nothing more than rumors. It has been more than 10 years since gamers last got the chance to play the first-shooter game and most continue to hope for the best.

Valve has nothing credible to offer gamers for now with focus reportedly directed on other projects. Further dampening hopes is the fact that creative writer Marc Laidlaw is no longer with the company. His departure is a big blow but even that has not flamed out hopes of a “Half Life 3”.

Good script needed for 'Half-Life 3'

While the fate of “Half-Life 3” remains uncertain, a good script could improve the chances of seeing the game come to fruition. Such is what CEO Gabe Newell set forth before he would seriously consider developing a sequel for the game.

"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why," said Newell via The News Independent.

'Half-life 3' 2018 debut happening and in VR?

It will be interesting if there will be someone will step up to the plate and produce an enticing script. But assuming someone does get creative and impress Newell, there are other things that games may be looking forward to.

Virtual Reality (VR) is something that is pretty much booming right now and most games are leaning towards that direction. With that in mind, what are the chances that Valve follows suit and adapt the same technology?

In another post, the possibility of seeing “Half-Life 3” in VR format thanks to a Valve hardware engineer named Alan Yates. He narrates how he has begun with the AR/VR research team – a smaller team compared to before.

Only 1/3 of the Valve workforce have allegedly been assigned to “Half-Life 3” so the progress is expected to be at a snail’s pace. Would this be enough to see a VR-ready “Half-Life 3” by 2018?
